WOWZEE asks only this of you: break 600
points. That's ALL you have to do.
Here's the rules: The deck is shuffled
and the cards are laid out in a pile.
Now you may remove cards from that pile
to form 5-card poker hands. These hands
are scored in the table on the right of
the screen. This goes on thru two decks
until the scoring table is full.
You may play in GAME PLAY mode, where
you just play single games, or in
TOURNEY PLAY mode, where the point is to
win a best-of-seven tournament.
This help screen contains several pages
of useful info. So, if you still have
any questions ... Duff on, McRead!
OK, now not just ANY card can be taken
off the pile. You may ONLY take a card
which has NO cards lying atop it, AND
which has either its left or right edge
free. Just try it; it's like Mah-Jongg.
Just move around with the mouse or, if
you don't have a mouse, with the arrow
keys and the PgUp, PgDn, Home and End
keys on the numeric keypad. Mouse users
may select items with the left button, or
undo actions with the right button.
Keyboard users select with RETURN and
unselect with ESCAPE.
Next up: how the scoring system works.
ACES: One point for each ace in hand. For
instance, three aces = three points.
TWOS: Two points for each two in hand.
...and so on till...
TENS: Ten points for each ten in hand.
IMPORTANT: If you score 160 or more
points on the left side of the table,
you are awarded a bonus of 50 points.
ONE PAIR: 10 points. Two cards of the
same rank (for instance, two threes).
TWO PAIR: 20 points. Two cards of one
rank and two cards of another rank.
THREE OF A KIND: 30 points. Three cards
of the same rank.
SMALL STRAIGHT: 40 points. Four cards
whose ranks are in order. Aces may be
high OR low.
LARGE STRAIGHT: 50 points. Five cards
whose ranks are in order. Aces may be
high OR low.
FLUSH: 60 points. Five cards of the
same suit. For example: five hearts.
FULL HOUSE: 70 points. A pair and a
three of a kind in the same hand.
FOUR OF A KIND: 80 points. Four cards of
the same rank.
STRAIGHT FLUSH: 90 points. Any large
straight that is also a flush.
CHANCE: Points given are the sum of the
values of the cards. Aces count as one,
face cards as ten, and other cards
count for their face value.
HELP: Yer lookin at it.
BOSS: Puts up a fake DOS screen. Type
"exit" to resume play or "abort" to quit.
SOUND: Turns the sound on or off. The
program remembers this setting.
MOUSE: Lets you adjust the mouse speed.
This setting will be remembered.
More stuff to come...
PLAYERS: Lets you review the lifetime
stats of up to 8 players. You can also
give a player a new name, or pick a new
player to use.
TRNY/GAME: Lets you pick Tourney mode,
where you play 7-game tourneys, or Game
mode, where you just play single games.
QUIT: Lets you quit the current game or
tourney, and even quit to DOS if wanted.
Dig: just play the game. Waddaya got
Toulouse? Let us know if you have any
problems. And get yer hand outta yer
pants!
